Leinster Senior and Junior XC

Calling all Leinster Cross country runners!

The re-fixed provincial cross country takes place on Sunday 14th Feb in Kilmacow, Co Kilkenny. This is an ideal opportunity for teams to stretch their legs before the National Inter clubs. The Carlow bypass is now open and reduces the journey to South Kilkenny. With entries for a club team only €15 for up to 10 runners it is also great value for money. The original entries still stand but we will take late entries on the day. The races also incorporate inter county Championships, entry fees €20 per team. Events kick off with the juvenile relays at 12 midday. Junior Women 3K at 1pm, junior men 6K at 1.20pm, senior women 5K at 1.50pm and senior men 10K at 2.20pm. Looking forward to having representation from all over Leinster.

Rás na hÉireann

Coca Cola International Rás na hÉireann 2010

Set on the lawn of the Oldbridge estate, the 41st Rás na hÉireann international Cross Country will take place on Sunday, February 28th, 2010.

This venue proved an ideal place last year to host a true cross-country race, when the Rás celebrated its 40th birthday. In 2010, it is hoped that the Rás na hÉireann cross country event, which is part of a cross-border Sport and Culture Week, thanks to strong links with Armagh Athletic Club, will emulate the achievements of 2009. There will be cross-country races for boys and girls, men and women from age 8 – 88!

All are welcome to come and compete. Race programme for download.

The course was highly praised last year by all who attended the event for its genuine cross country appeal. The international athletes were impressed with the facility, rating it a top European cross country course.

The ground is undulating and firm underfoot, and well-marked by course stewards, including club stalwart Tommy Neary and his team in the days before the event. Oldbridge House is a perfect backdrop for the event.

The OPW have created a superb recreation space at Oldbridge, steeped in history, and Rás na hÉireann and Dunleer Athletic Club are honoured to host their event once again in this marvellous location.
