KBC ASSET MANAGEMENT ST. PATRICK’S 5K FESTIVAL ROAD RACE DETAILS ANNOUNCED Details of this year’s KBC Asset Management St. Patrick’s 5K Festival Road Race have been announced. The event will take place in Dublin on Sunday, 14th March beginning at 12.00 noon from the Mansion House where it will be officially started by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Emer Costello. This is the fifth year of the event which is being held as part of the St. Patrick’s Festival Week and the first city street race in a year when Dublin celebrates its status as European Capital of Sport. Open to elite athletes and fun runners alike, it is hoped that some 5,000 runners will take part. Race director is Ireland’s former World 5,000 metres champion Eamonn Coghlan, whose late father Bill was instrumental in establishing the event some years ago. It is being hosted by Metropolitan Harriers & St. Brigid’s Athletic Club in association with Dublin City Council. A generous prize fund has been set aside which includes a first prize of €1,000 for both senior men and women winners with prizes of €500, €250 and €100 going to 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers in both categories. Other prize categories include men’s and three women’s team prizes with €400 going to the 1st place team in each case plus Masters Men and Women categories, Junior Men and Women under 20 and Corporate Teams of 4 runners in any gender combination. Souvenir T-shirts and ‘goodie bags’ will be given to the first 2,000 entries received. KBC Asset Management chief executive Sean Hawkshaw said ‘we are proud to support an event that is an integral part of the St. Patrick’s Festival Week programme. It is hoped that the race will play an important role in attracting visitors to the city at a time when hoteliers and retailers will welcome the boost that the Festival will bring.’ Registration can be made on-line at <www.patricksrun.com> or by post to Mary Friel, Hon. Secretary, MSB5K, Unit 2, Coolport, Coolmine Business Park, Dublin 15. An entry fee of €15 applies to all entries received before March 8th. Late entries will also be taken up to 11.00hrs on the day for a fee of €20 with a reduced rate for families.
